US Census Bureau 
This is a valuable tool for getting county level data.  For instance, one could find out the Craven County had a total of 1,323 children under the age of one year. 

To get the information above: 

  • click on US Census Bureau above
  • click on "Access Tools,"
  • click on "Map Stats," (under Interactive Software Tools)
  • you will see a map of the United States, click on "North Carolina,"
  • click on "Craven" County,
  • Under "Lookup 1990 Census STF1A and STF3A tables." -- click on "STF1A"
  • Scroll down and select P11 "Age"
  • Click the submit button at the top of the screen
  • Under "Retrieve the 1 tables you've selected:" select HTML format
  • Click submit and view your results
