State Priorities

• Develop a mechanism for collaborative planning among colleges, universities, state and tribal entities and local agencies regarding support for children birth through age eight and their families [e.g., planning of input on new programs and initiatives; development of different ways in which instruction can be delivered, including distance learning options; collaborative planning and input on new programs and initiatives]
• Support enhancements for curriculum development for inservice training and technical assistance to prepare individuals for working with young children and their families that include blended/integrated or transdisciplinary curricula, blended/integrated philosophy, increased emphasis on diversity and serving children who are at risk and increased emphasis on Natural Learning Opportunities and earlier field experiences in inclusive settings
• Increase participation of family members in preservice, inservice and leadership efforts through strategies that include co-instruction and family mentoring
