North Carolina School Readiness Assessment

The North Carolina's Kindergartners & Schools report provides an overall summary of findings from the Fall 2000 North Carolina School Readiness Assessment. The Summary Report and Executive Summary were released to the public on April 23, 2001. The North Carolina's Kindergartners & Schools Technical Report provides additional information about the procedures and results from the Fall 2000 assessment. The Technical Report serves as an addendum to the Summary Report and should not be read as an independent document.

Cumberland County School Readiness Assessment

The Fall 2000 statewide assessment did not provide any county-level data. The Cumberland County Partnership for Children in cooperation with Cumberland County Schools requested that a similar assessment be conducted in their county which would provide countywide representative data. The Cumberland County's Kindergartners & Schools report provides a summary of findings from the Fall 2001 Cumberland County School Readiness Assessment.

NC Schools First in America

Some Fall 2000 school readiness data were included in the First in America report released in December 2000 by the North Carolina Education Research Council. More information about the NC Schools First in America challenge and copies of this report are available on the First in America web site.

Ready for School Goal Team

The Full Report of the Ready for School Goal Team provides detailed information about the Goal Team's work, the school readiness definition, and assessment recommendations. The Executive Summary provides a brief overview of the Goal Team's recommendations.

National Center for Early Development and Learning

The National Center for Early Development and Learning and SERVE conducted a survey of readiness initiatives in all 50 states during the fall of 1999. A Research Spotlight highlighting this survey is available from NCEDL.
