Membership and Access

Photos of Brain Scans Core facilities are available to approved NDRC investigators. Gaining access is a two-step process; an investigator must apply for entry into the NDRC and must also have an externally funded or pending project to qualify.

All projects accessing the IDDRC cores must be approved for use annually by the MRDD Branch of the NICHD. New projects will be reviewed and approved for core access by the Executive Committee.

Criteria for Access to Core Services

  1. Relevance to MRDD and the mission and themes of the center.
  2. Funding/quality: External funding is a prerequisite for becoming an IDDRC investigator.  NIH/NSF grants receive the highest priority.  Consideration is given to investigators with a substantial track record of non-NIH/NSF funding with promise of federal funding (pending approval by the EKSNICHD MRDD Branch).  Approximately 10% of projects accessing the research cores will have non-federal grant support.
  3. Interest/participation in the NDRC (for current investigators): includes attendance at monthly seminars and documentation of cores use.
  4. Available resources in the cores.
  5. Completion of required EKSNICHD annual renewal for each ongoing project

Procedure

  1. Admission to the NDRC
New investigators applying for status as an investigator must submit an application form and CV.  Submit completed applications to Lauren Bomba at campus box 3366.
    • NDRC Membership Application
    • NDRC Core Access Request Form
  2. Access to Core Resources
Current and new investigators wanting access to an IDDRC research core for a new or planned project or proposal must submit a core application to the appropriate core director for approval.  Contact information for each core is included in the core descriptions.  Application forms to access individual cores are available here (we would need a link to the attached document NDRC Core Access Request Form).
