5-Day Training on the
| On March 31, 2008 we will begin accepting applications for the 5-Day Training on the ECERS-R and ITERS-R, to be held June 2-6, 2008. This five-day course provides intensive training in use of the Early Childhood Environment Rating Scale-Revised Edition (ECERS-R) and the Infant-Toddler Environment Rating Scale-Revised Edition (ITERS-R). Authors of these widely used instruments serve as primary faculty for the training. Participants will be given training in using the scales, and guided practice conducting assessments in child care settings, followed by comprehensive debriefing with experienced group leaders. In addition to the basic introductory training, which comprises our three-day courses, the authors will provide in-depth interpretation of the major requirements of the various sub-scales. This approach will improve accuracy in scoring and support technical assistance/training for program improvement. Note that training to reliability with the authors is not offered through the UNC courses. This type of training requires 5-10 days, with reliability checks throughout. Training to reliability is not currently offered to individuals. For more information on training to reliability, please contact the authors of the scales. On their applications, participants must select training on just one of the two scales. | |
