On December 15, 2007 we will begin accepting applications for the 8 Day
In-Depth Training on the ECERS-R, to be held March 10-13 and April
28-May 1, 2008. The 8 day course provides training in the use of
the Early Childhood Environment Rating Scale-Revised Edition
(ECERS-R) and is designed especially to enhance
the skills of coaches, mentors, technical assistance (TA) specialists,
and R&R representatives using the scales to help improve the quality
of children’s programs.
The course pre-requisite includes completion of an
FPG introductory 3-day or 5-day training and experience using the
scale. The 8-day training includes:
- Pretest to determine level of pre-course knowledge
- Lecture by authors and associates, on the interpretation
of specific indicators, the research and rationale for requirements,
what is required to meet requirements
- Explanations about how to best use the scales
in efforts to maximize the effects of coaching, mentoring and technical
assistance
- Discussions among participants
- A variety of hands-on activities to reinforce
learning
- Post-test to measure content knowledge
As with any college-level course, the participant
is expected to attend all portions of the course, have and read required
materials, and study course content in order to pass the post-test.
Assessment of participant competence is completed
through a post-test, and documentation of participation in the course
will be provided.

Application
procedure
Applications must be accompanied
by a check or approved purchase order. Purchase orders must be replaced
with checks by February 11, 2008. Interest typically

No more than five participants will be admitted from a single organization
without special permission. Applicants will be notified within two
weeks whether they have been accepted.
Fee
A fee of $2,000 covers the cost of the training, all materials, breakfast and

accommodations. Refunds will be given, minus a $50 processing charge, if
cancellation is made by February 11.
