Early Childhood Research Resources

  • Child Care Works: Research to Practice. The Child Care Bureau recently released its third training CD, Child Care Works: Research to Practice, which highlights the Bureau’s partnership with states, territories, and tribes to promote a quality early care and education experience for every child and family. Child Care Works contains video clips, key points, resources, and discussion questions to facilitate critical thinking and discussion on key topics including social and emotional development, training models, systems to improve quality, and Assessment and Evaluation. It is suitable for use in training programs, professional development activities, curricula in higher education, as well as by individuals. For more information or to order the free CD go to http://www.acf.hhs.gov/programs/ccb/ta/pubs/cd/ccw.htm

  • Online Materials for Using Research in Policy and Practice. The National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) website now includes a new section devoted to helping early childhood professionals and policymakers become well-informed users of early childhood development research. The site provides guidelines on the characteristics of quality research, links to research reports, syntheses and peer-review journals, and ways you can become an informed advocate for early childhood research. Read all about it at http://www.naeyc.org/resources/research/
