Early Childhood Teachers Often Ill Prepared to Support Children with Disabilities

Although a majority of preschool classrooms include at least one child with a disability, teachers are often unprepared to work with these children. A recent survey of early childhood teacher preparation programs showed that even though early intervention and special education are part of many programs’ missions, coursework and training often fall short. Findings from the survey are highlighted in a new FPG Snapshot which is available at http://www.fpg.unc.edu/%7Eimages/pdfs/snapshots/snap31.pdf
