CENTe-R Collaborative Early Intervention National Training e-Resource

CENTe-R is a federally funded project based at the University of North Carolina Greensboro to develop materials to inform and support graduate-level professionals serving families with infants and toddlers who are deaf/hard-of-hearing. A transdisciplinary collaborative approach with experts from across the nation is being used to develop multi-media modules based on nationally validated standards (in infant toddler development, early intervention, family partnerships, teaming/service provision, communication approaches, legislation, professionalism). The web site includes information on early intervention and deafness, national resources and an annotated bibliography.
Tips for Teachers and Trainers: Web-based research can be an excellent way for students to learn more about different approaches to working with children with special needs. For example, ask students to use sites like this one to research different communication options for young children (e.g., auditory-oral, auditory-verbal, American Sign Language, total communication, cued speech, bilingual/bicultural).
