Early Identification of Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Children (Aged 0-5) – Minibibliography

When assessing young children for early intervention or special education services, practitioners need to be especially sensitive to significant cultural and linguistic variations that exist among children and families. The language in which assessment will occur, the assessment instruments and procedures, family preferences and priorities are only a few of the considerations. This 8-page annotated bibliography, edited by National Early Childhood Technical Assistance Center (NECTAC) staff members Sue Goode, Evelyn Shaw, Sharon Ringwalt and Betsy Ayankoya, provides a selection of articles, guidelines and reports that address these issues.
