Early Childhood in the Carolinas Synthesis Conference
This conference has concluded.
This conference (Fort Mill, SC, 1997) developed a model conference to help state policymakers turn research into policy and policy into practice. Early childhood policy and decision-makers from North and South Carolina discussed current research findings and their implications for policy. One result was the later introduction of several bills in the South Carolina legislature designed to improve the care and education of young children. Another result of the conference was the creation of a task force in North Carolina that eventually led to the Making Gains conference held in Chapel Hill in 1999. The policy summit was a collaborative between NCEDL and SERVE.
