Core Services

Services and resources fundamental to the FPG community have been identified as Core Services. These services are available to FPG members in support of institute activities as well as funded projects. Additional information is provided at the following core sites:

IT Web Services

In addition, we are responsible for building and maintaining many of the internal Web resources such as the Portal and Core Services web sites. Last and not least, Web Services is here to help every Investigator think through how a project Web site would best serve your needs, and then create this web resource for you.

Outreach

  • Since its inception, the FPG Child Development Institute has engaged in a wide variety of outreach activities; however, for the most part these have involved individual projects targeting specific groups for limited periods of time based on grant funding. Building on this track record, we are thinking more systematically about center-wide outreach efforts targeting policy makers, practicing professionals, parents, and the public.

Publications Office

  • The FPG publications office is a major component of the Outreach Unit. The publications office operates as a recharge center, serving FPG projects and other departments on the UNC campus by charging an hourly rate for specialized services. Other specialized services provided by the Outreach Unit are available through salary support to staff.

Qualitative/Ethnographic Methods & Analysis Core (QMAC)

  • The Qualitative/Ethnographic Methods & Analysis Core provides an experienced staff and resources to assist researchers in all aspects of qualitative/ethnographic research, including research design, training, implementation, data management, collection, and analysis. QMAC staff can also assist in establishing reliability and validity procedures, writing data reports, and integrating qualitative and quantitative methods and analyses.
