Gary E. Martin, Ph.D., is an Investigator at the FPG Child Development Institute at UNC. His research interests include the speech and language development of children with fragile X syndrome, Down syndrome, and autism (with a particular emphasis on pragmatic aspects of language).
Currently, he works on two NIH funded grants comparing the pragmatic and speech production skills of children with fragile X syndrome, Down syndrome, and autism spectrum disorder, and examining the child factors that relate to these skills.
Martin is an Adjunct Instructor of Speech and Hearing Sciences at UNC, and works with undergraduate students completing research-focused independent studies. He is also a certified member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
