Opportunities to Support FPG

There are numerous financial vehicles available to assist individuals with making thoughtful planned gifts to FPG. Please contact UNC's Office of Gift Planning at 919-962-3290 if you would like to discuss a gift of appreciated stock, property, a bequest or an income producing planned gift.

You may designate your gift to support any of these FPG funding priorities:

FPG Director's Discretionary Fund

An unrestricted gift to the Director's Fund provides FPG with the flexibility to use your gift where the need is greatest.

FPG Endowment Fund

A gift to the existing FPG Endowment Fund ensures the continuity of our research.  The fund builds and generates annual income to support FPG’s work.

FPG Family and Child Care Program

Our child care program provides high-quality early education and care to children and families and serves as a training site for current and future educators and service providers. It is a full-day program, operating from 7:30 am until 5:30 pm year round. Staff members use developmentally appropriate practices that promote learning of language, communication, emergent literacy, social, cognitive, play, and creative skills. Tuition is based on a sliding fee scale and the family's ability to pay. Your gift would help a deserving child attend FPG.

FirstSchool

FirstSchool is a new vision for the early schooling of children ages three through eight. With FirstSchool FPG is partnering with parents, teachers, community leaders, administrators, higher education faculty and researchers, to develop a school that reflects the best available research in concert with the needs and values of the community and the experiences of educators.  We will develop, implement, and evaluate a local FirstSchool model that will provide a national framework for uniting the best of early childhood education and elementary education to serve young children and their families.

James J. Gallagher Dissertation Award

Named to honor long time FPG senior scientist, Dr. Jim Gallagher, this annual award provides support for dissertation research at UNC-CH focusing on child development, education, or family support. Priority is given to research on policy, young children, children with disabilities, or gifted children. The director's office oversees an annual competition for the award.

Thelma Harms Early Childhood Education Fund

Named to honor long time FPG scientist, Dr. Thelma Harms, this endowment fund is used to support the study of early childhood programs in the United States and abroad.

FPG Outreach

The Outreach department fulfills a key component of FPG’s mission—sharing the knowledge generated by FPG researchers to enhance child development and family well being. The department translates our research into products used by families and professionals linking our work to the needs of communities. Your gift will help us get the latest information on child development to parents, caregivers, teachers, and policymakers.
