FPG Projects Providing Training in Research Methods
Carolina Interdisciplinary Large-Scale Policy Research Training
This project is preparing special education doctoral and post doctoral students to conduct large-scale and longitudinal policy studies using an interdisciplinary team of faculty from UNC and other research organizations with considerable experience in large-scale, longitudinal and policy research. Pre-doctoral and postdoctoral fellows from relevant disciplines will attend an intensive onsite training session and will develop a proposal to conduct secondary analyses of a large-scale dataset, which will be reviewed and approved by an interdisciplinary faculty research team. The training will be followed by a 10 month research apprenticeship with a mentor during which the fellow conducts the proposed analyses. The training modules, to be put on a CD-ROM and posted on the project's Web site, may be incorporated into existing courses, used as independent studies, or added as new courses to the doctoral training curriculum.
Post-Doctoral Research Training Fellowship in Education Sciences at FPG
This training project promotes the professional development of research scientists who will significantly contribute to early childhood education and related fields. The grant funds 4 post-doctoral students for 2 years each, who are mentored by 1 of 8 FPG researchers.
