For Parents

FPG strives to make our research applicable to the daily lives of children and their families. Research projects publish results in user-friendly and accessible formats, such as Snapshots. We invite you to use our Products Search and Projects Search for topics of interest. Parents of children with special needs may be particularly interested in projects dealing with a disabling condition. Parents contemplating child care decisions may be interested in knowing what constitutes good quality child care. From time to time, FPG projects recruit families for participation in projects and research studies. You will see a link on this page when these opportunities are announced.

Child Care at FPG

In 1966, the FPG child care program was established as a prelude to a large, comprehensive, multidisciplinary research project on the effect of full-day early education, health care, and social services on the lives of disadvantaged children. Today the child care program is nationally accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and has a 5-star NC child care license, the highest quality rating possible in the state.

Children are accepted into the program from the ages of 6 weeks to 3 months. For further information about the program and/or the application process visit the Child Care Program web site.
