Surveys Available
The following are surveys used to gather information for
NCEDL projects:
Transition
Practices Survey [466K PDF]
In Year 1, we conducted the National Survey of Kindergarten
Transition Practices, using a stratified random sample of
kindergarten teachers. This survey provided important data
on the relative frequency of various practices aimed at
facilitating the transition into kindergarten and from kindergarten
into first grade, the perceived effectiveness of various
practices, and barriers that teachers see to using the transition
practices they endorse.

of Kindergarten Transitions)

Practices
in Early Childhood Settings [91K
PDF]
The Year 2 National Survey was mailed to 5,000 early childhood
centers in February 1998. The survey was completed by teachers
of 3- and 4-year olds and sought to identify what practices
early childhood teachers believe are best, what practices
they are implementing, and what barriers they perceive to
the practices they endorse.
