Evaluation Assistance

The Frank Porter Graham UNC-CH Smart Start Statewide Evaluation staff is available to provide evaluation technical assistance to North Carolina Smart Start partnerships. The following topics are areas in which the FPG Evaluation Assistance staff is prepared to help:

Providing an overview of basic evaluation principles, definitions and steps

Leading discussions of how/whether activities are tied to goals and objectives

Developing or identifying partnership benchmarks

Developing or identifying activity measurable outcomes

Designing evaluations of local activities

Providing procedures or measures for local evaluations

Facilitating efficient and accurate quarterly reporting

Using existing data, including statewide and local Smart Start evaluation data

The FPG Evaluation Assistance Team will respond to requests in the most efficient and user-friendly way possible, but these are some of the ways in which the team will operate:

What is the Smart Start Evaluation Notebook?

A core group of Smart Start Evaluators and members of the Frank Porter Graham Smart Start Team worked together to build a collection of ideas and materials that have been developed about Smart Start Evaluation. The Notebook is designed to orient new staff, serve as a resource for all staff, and serve as a central collection point for Smart Start evaluation.

How do I get a Smart Start Evaluation Notebook?

The Smart Start Evaluation Notebook is now available for download from this web site! Go to the Evaluation Notebook Download Request Form.

You may also order a printed copy of the Smart Start Evaluation Notebook. There is a $25 service charge for each printed copy. View and print an order form using the link below. Complete the order form and send it to us with payment.
