Dr. Jim Bodfish has accepted an invitation to serve on the NIH Child Psychopathology and Developmental Disabilities Study Section in the Center for Scientific Review beginning July 1, 2008 and ending June 30, 2012

Dr. Sarah J. Hart, an NDRC postdoctoral research trainee, earned second place among research award winners at the 16th Annual Radiology-BRIC Research Symposium held May 22, 2008 for her standout presentation titled, Neuroimaging Executive-emotional Processing in Adolescents at Genetic Risk for Schizophrenia.

Dr. Joseph Piven was awarded a supplement ($3.25M direct costs over 5 years) to an existing $10M NIH ACE Network (involving four clinical sites around the U.S.) to expand a longitudinal MRI study of infants at risk for autism. Joint funding of this supplement is from the NICHD and Simons Foundation. www.babysibsimaging.org/.

  • Dr. Molly Losh "An Investigation of Neuropsychological Endophenotypes in Autism and Fragile X" funded by the National Institute of Mental Health

NDRC Announces Postdocs for 2008-2009

Three new NDRC postdoctoral research trainees

  • Dr. John Allen, mentored by Dr. Bryan Roth, studies mouse models of neurodevelopmental disorders and the neuropharmacology of serotonin receptors
  • Dr. Debra Childress, mentored by Dr. Joseph Piven, studies early brain and behavior development in children with neurodevelopmental disorders
  • Dr. Adam Roberts, mentored by Dr. Ben Philpot, studies the deficits in experience-dependent synapse development in neurodevelopmental disorders

will join existing post docs Dr. Bruno Estigarribia (linguistic manifestations of Fragile X), Dr. Chris Futtner (biology of neural stem cells) and Dr. Sarah Hart (functional neuroimaging on individuals with neurodevelopmental disorders) in the NDRC post doc research-training program. Welcome.
